Sad news from the comedy world: Reggie McFadden, the comedian known for appearances on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam and Fox’s In Living Color, has died at 57, according to his family.
McFadden’s sister, the author Bernice McFadden, told TMZ on Monday morning that the US State Department contacted the family Sunday to inform them of his death in Tanzania. Reggie had reportedly been living there for roughly the last 18 years. The family was not told when or how he died, that outlet reports.

Bernice also revealed to the news org that Reggie had been estranged from his family for some time because of what she described as “family s**t.”
Born and raised in Brooklyn, Reggie turned to stand-up comedy while dealing with life in the housing projects. His career took off in 1991 with Def Comedy Jam, eventually leading him to Los Angeles, where he worked for a long time as a stand-up comedian gaining notoriety across that sphere.
He parlayed that into a nice television career, with acting roles on shows including Martin, Moesha, and Coach.
In 1993, he joined the fifth and final season of In Living Color, playing multiple sketch characters. Beyond that, his credits also included Getting Personal, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Jacob’s Ladder, and Little Nicky.
And now, he’s gone. So sad. Reggie was a talented comedian whose work brought laughter to many, and for many years.
Rest In Peace…
