Renée Zellweger Addresses Those 'Cruel' Kenny Chesney Gay Rumors

no title
Renée Zellweger
is an open book these days!
In an interview with the Advocate, Ren├â┬⌐e discussed her failed marriage to Kenny Chesney and why she annulled their 2005 brief marriage over “fraud”, a charge which led many to suspect the country singer was gay.

Now Zellweger is FINALLY speaking out on the issue and and naturally we’re all ears!
According to the actress, the scandal isn’t something she conveniently “forgot” about… a claim which is just CRAZY considering the drama of the split still follows Chesney to this day! The scandal was a big deal back in 2005!
The beauty went on to dish:
“I forgot about that. It’s a pretty big thing to forget, isn’t it? That made me sad. It made me sad that somehow people were using that as a way to be cruel and calling someone gay as a pejorative, which has fateful consequences. Of course, there’s the bigger-picture problem of why anyone had to make up a story at all.”
Well we do agree the 47-year-old on that point. It’s never okay to use someone’s sexuality as an insult!
So, why didn’t the star ever speak out on the issue if it made her feel so bad?

Ms. Zellweger explained:

“Well, I’d said all I needed to say on that subject. I’m an old-fashioned gal who doesn’t feel it’s appropriate to hang out your laundry on the lawn. I feel you devalue yourself as a human being when you share very personal things with a bajillion strangers who are making fun of you. I just don’t see that there’s any dignity in that. But sometimes it is difficult to just let something be what it is, especially when it’s unnecessary ugliness. Once you’ve said your piece, shouldn’t that be enough? And why is the ugliness that’s perpetuated in the media so attractive to people?”

Hmm… so R.E. is taking the silence is golden route. We can’t say we blame her, especially since Kenny deserves to control what he divulges on his sexuality… no matter what that may be!
So, what do YOU think of Ren├â┬⌐e’s comments?
