Incredible.
A church in Possom Trot, Texas doesn’t the know the meaning of the word impossible.
Bishop W.C. Martin and his wife Donna plus the congregation at Bennett Chapel Baptist Church came together to adopt 76 foster children who had been abused or abandoned.
Here’s what Martin said:
“I never dreamed there were so many children in the system. We’re just a little church. But this problem is all of ours.”
A little church with a big heart.
It was Donna who first set the massive adopting wheels in motion. When her mother died, she says she heard a voice telling her to adopt.
At first they “only” adopted four children which prompted twenty other friends to follow their example.
The couple have had some slight hiccups along the way.
Here’s what Martin said:
“They did everything but set the house on fire. Actually Tyler lit up the garbage can.”
Today Tyler is an honors student. Some of his adopted siblings are studying criminal law in college, preparing for the FBI, and going to cosmetology school.
Another parishioners couple Jesus and Brandy Carillo adopted an eight-year-old named Michael. On one incident the couple asked him to wash his hands before eating the just-ordered pizza.
Here’s what Jesus said:
“He wouldn’t budge. He said ‘please don’t eat all of it. Save me some.’ It broke my heart.”
These days Michael loves baseball and gets A’s & B’s in school.
Incredibly touching story about some true American heroes.
