Aw, we’re disappointed by this break-up news…we thought the pairing between Richard Gere and Padma Lakshmi might last!
The couple, who began quietly dating back in April, unfortunately decided to call it quits this month due to ‘work commitments’.

According to sources, the 20 year age difference wasn’t a factor in the break-up(Padma has a long history of dating older men), but rather it was just an issue of timing.
A source close to the couple revealed:
“They decided they would be better off as friends.”
The source also hinted that 65-year-old Richard is still broken up over his divorce from his wife of 11 years, Carey Lowell. Similarly to Richard, the 44-year-old Padma is still recovering from a heart-break; her partner of seven years, Teddy Forstmann, tragically died of brain cancer back in 2011.
Hmmm, it seems like the couple made the right decision if they’re weren’t emotionally ready for a long term commitment!
