As a proud mother of two boys, Ricki Lake‘s heart is very close to the United Nations “Every Woman, Every Child” campaign, which advocates healthy birth options around the world.
Unfortunately, too many lives of both women and children are being lost every year because of inadequate care.
Approximately 350,000 women worldwide lose their lives during pregnancy or child birth, while at least 3.6 million babies are lost within the first 4 weeks of life.
So heart breaking!
Luckily the U.N. is getting into the fight and hopes to save 16 million lives by 2015 with support from governments, businesses, and individuals across the globe.
