After fulfilling her long contract with Def Jam, Rihanna has inked a deal with Jay Z’s Roc Nation record label!
Rumors of the switch began swirling this morning, when some clever peeps noticed RiRi was under Def Jam’s “Legacy” section on their website—thus hypothesizing that she decided to switch major labels, leaving them behind for good.
Sources have also learned that the change might’ve actually occurred in April 2013, when Jay partnered Roc Nation with Universal Music Group…
But we have no confirmation from Rihanna or her camp on the matter.
While the switch makes sense, we couldn’t help but feel like the deal might get in the way of Ri and Drake‘s budding relationship!
Drizzy and Jay have had an ongoing fondu and art fueled feud for months now, and the Take Care singer does have his own OVO Sound label—so we’re wondering why she didn’t sign with him.
So curious as to where her loyalties are!
It’s understandable to stick with Jay because he signed her in 2005, but we can’t help but wonder how Drake must be feeling!
