Sad news today in the music word.

Garage rock legend Jay Reatard passed away on Tuesday night in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee.

Reatard, born Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr., was only 29.

Jay’s label, Matador Records, has released a statement on the musician’s untimely passing:

“Jay was as full of life as anyone we’ve ever met, and responsible for so many memorable moments as a person and artist. We├óΓé¼Γäóre honored to have known and worked with him, and we will miss him terribly.”

So, so sad.
