It’s very difficult sometimes to understand what goes on this world and why individuals choose to commit these types of nightmarish atrocities.
With the country still reeling from the unspeakable Sandy Hook Elementary school massacre, at which a gunman took the lives of 20 children and 6 adults trying to protect them, another violent shooting has occurred in the United States, once again resulting in the loss of innocent lives.
Firefighters called to the scene of a massive blaze encompassing three homes and a vehicle in Rochester, New York were shot at as they left their vehicles early this morning, leaving two dead and two others injured and hospitalized.
Worse yet, the constant gunfire prevented responders from being able to extinguish the flames, and a SWAT team was called in to help nearby neighbors and bystanders evacuate the increasingly-unsafe area!
Monroe County Sheriff Patrick O’Flynn said:
“We have different individuals that were possible people with knowledge, but at this point I can’t really comment.”
While Police Chief Gerald Pickering furthered:
“It’s still an active crime scene. We have firefighters there at the location. It took a while to make it safe … to put out the fires.”
It’s still currently unclear what caused the initial blaze, if the subsequent shooting is connected, and if anyone inside the homes was injured.
All we can do for now is pray for the lives so mercilessly taken, the individuals injured, and the people who have lost their homes and belongings as a result of this awful tragedy.
No one should have to suffer this intensely during what should be the happiest times of the year. This violence has to end.
NOW.
