Rosamund Pike Says She Was Asked To 'Drop My Dress' For Bond Audition!

Rosamund Pike Bond Girl Die Another Day Audition

Rosamund Pike is a well-respected actress, but once upon a time she was confronted with something many young starlets have unfortunately had to face.
Her taped audition to be Bond femme fatale Miranda Frost in Die Another Day was her first ever (wow!) and one of her toughest.

While promoting her new Audible audio book version of Jane Austen‘s classic Sense And Sensibility (ironically, a story about women getting screwed over by a patriarchal society), Pike revealed:

“My first audition was for a Bond film and I remember them saying I was to drop my dress and appear in my underwear.”

She recalled:

“On the day, I don’t know how I got the resolve and strength of mind, but I just thought, ‘Actually sod that, if they’re gonna see me in my underwear, they better give me the job.’ So, I thought, ‘There’s no way I’m going to take off a dress in the audition for this tape to be sent around Los Angeles and to be judged on that.'”

Good for her!
What a great lesson for young actresses — you can say NO to that kind of thing and still get the part… and end up getting nominated for an Oscar.
Is this what they make all Bond girls go through? Who’s holding these auditions, a sexist ’60s spy?
