Rose McGowan took a lot of #MeToo supporters by surprise on Sunday with some comments which seemed to call the movement “a lie.”
But the Scream star is now saying she wasn’t exactly misquoted, but her comments were mischaracterized.

However, her clarifications aren’t all that convincing…
She tweeted after the Sunday Times interview in question started to spread:
I never said #MeToo is a lie. Ever. I was talking about Hollywood and Time’s Up, not #MeToo. Ugh. I’m so tired of erroneous sh*tstorms. #MeToo is about survivors and their experiences, that cannot be taken away.

A few hours later she added:

Later she got ahold of the transcript for even further clarification:
Here is the Sunday Times transcript. The words in parentheses are the writer’s notes and weren’t spoken. The question was, “and you don’t get invited to all the lunches?” See my answer below. Understand how these things get slanted, in other words #FakeNews pic.twitter.com/XRC2QDJE1x

OK, so she didn’t say #MeToo was a lie, but all the Hollywood support we’ve seen for it is?
And Republicans in the U.S. are right not to trust actors, who are all liars? She’s fine saying that??
She even ended her new comments using Donald Trump‘s favorite hashtag!
This is not much better.
