We’re not sure the world is ready for President Barr.
On Monday, during a press conference for the Roseanne reboot, Roseanne Barr got political as she defended her decision to support Donald Trump AND revealed that she thought she’d be a better Commander-In-Chief than Oprah Winfrey.

On why she has chosen to stand by the controversial Cheeto-In-Chief, the 65-year-old comedienne noted:
“I think it was time for us as a country to shake things up and try something different.”
Yeah, but did it have to be HIM??? Ugh.
In regards to Oprah’s empowering Golden Globes speech, which has had many calling for the media mogul to run in 2020, the funny lady relayed:
“I do love Oprah. Of course I love Oprah like everybody else… Actually, I think I would be a better president than Oprah or Susan Sarandon, possibly even President Trump.”
EXCUSE US?? The bigoted content on Barr’s Twitter account has us debating that particular point.
And while Roseanne is personally a Trump supporter, she has chosen to also make her TV alter-ego a Donald fan — for one VERY particular reason. She continued:
“I said it, and I’ll say again, my show has always been ├óΓé¼┬ª I’ve always attempted to portray a realistic portrait of the American people and of working class people. And in fact, it was working class people who elected Trump, so I felt like that was very real and something that needed to be discussed especially about polarization in the family and actually hating people for the way they voted, which I feel like is not American. ├óΓé¼┬ª There was a lot of thought in it.”
Although Barr’s castmates — including John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, Laurie Metcalf, etc. — were seated next to her on the dais, reporters targeted most of their questions at Roseanne. Unsurprisingly, many of the queries were political in nature. After being asked if her character would question the President’s xenophobia, the industry vet tried to dodge the inquiry by saying she didn’t “want to get into this.”
However, as Roseanne is unafraid of controversy, she boldly stated:
“I’m not a Trump apologist. There are a lot of things that he’s said and done that I don’t agree with. There’s probably a lot of things Hillary Clinton has done and said that you don’t agree with it. Nobody is brainwashed into agreeing with 100 percent of what anybody said. One bright thing I read today is, this is the lowest black unemployment for many, many years, so I think that’s great. I do support jobs for people. I think that’s a great way to fight racism is that everybody has a job.”
When one of the show’s writers tried to chime in, the thrice married star interrupted:
“Speaking of racism, I’m just going to say it.”
Gilbert tried to get her TV mom to walk away from the controversy bait by asking if Roseanne was “sure” she wanted to go there. The answer was clearly “yes” as Barr concluded:
“A big part of why I couldn’t vote for Hillary Clinton is because of Haiti… I think it’s a time to close ranks. I would really like to see an end to hatriotism in this country.”
WHOA. Per reports, an ABC publicist scrambled to end the press conference.
Roseanne better be careful, in this political climate, one serious controversy could get the reboot pulled from programming!!
