Finally, some television programming that has nothing to do with “reality TV.”
Set to make a return to the talk show world is none other that Rosie O’Donnell.
In a long rumored move, O’Donnell will be joining NBC to air Rosie’s Variety Show, part talk, part comedy, part music.
An hourlong special will air live the night before Thanksgiving, on November 26.
If the ratings are good, there’s a possibility the network might order a full series.
O’Donnell will be executive producer, along with David Friedman from Last Call With Carson Daly.
NBC will even beat out the Osbourne family by premiering the show before Thanksgiving. The Osbournes are said to have a variety show coming up on FOX sometime this winter or spring.
But what makes Rosie’s show stand out from the rest is the fact that her show will be live.
NBC vp alternative Craig Plestis says, “This will reinvent the idea of what a variety show is for 2008. There’s very few performers willing to put themselves out there live. It makes it more TiVo-proof, and it’s something none of the cable networks can do.”
We can’t wait to watch.
