As we’ve said before, you can’t win ’em all!
Yesterday, Rosie O’Donnell’s new talk show The Rosie Show (above) debuted on OWN, and the critics just aren’t feeling it.
Here’s what Liane Bonin Starr from Hitfix had to say about it:
“If you were expecting Letterman, you’re sure to be disappointed. This isn’t to say the show doesn’t have it’s charms as well as some glaring problems.”
“In being family friendly, O’Donnell is so inoffensive she’s simply dull.”
More from Newsday’s Verne Gay:
“Of course, first nights are messy. They can also be promising. Yet nothing here suggested promise.”
“O’Donnell long ago ditched the ‘cutie-patootie’ celeb interview business in favor of stridency, even anger.”
More from Lori Rackl at the Chicago Sun Times:
“The Rosie Show got off to a rocky start Monday with a premiere that was talk show, variety show, game show and public-service program, all rolled up into one muddled hour of live TV.”
“Rosie O├óΓé¼ΓäóDonnell kicked things off at her new Harpo Studios home with a monologue that seemed to be missing something ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ like funny jokes.”
Ouchie! And here’s more from Variety’s Brian Lowry:
“Airing live creates a sense of unpredictability, but unlike most frontloaded premieres, The Rosie Show’s bow proved curiously flat and understated, whose success will rest heavily on the host’s lingering fan base.”
Ah well. Maybe the second episode will get a more positive response?
Did U watch the debut episode of Rosie’s new show? If so, what did U think about it???
