And Just Like That… Rosie O’Donnell felt super awkward on set!
In case you don’t recall, Rosie got a short role on the Sex & The City reboot as a nun named Mary. She starred alongside Cynthia Nixon, who played Miranda on the series, and they had an NSFW scene together! She only appeared on one episode of the show in season three, but that was enough to make her feel a little tense about what went down, as she revealed on the Good Hang podcast.
She revealed to host Amy Poehler last week:
“[The sex scene] was horrifying to me. I was so nervous. The kissing wasn’t hard, but the laying in bed and the wanting us to act like we had just done it. I was like ‘Uhh…'”

And what made it even more awkward, was Cynthia didn’t disclose to Rosie ahead of time they’d be doing a sex scene! The 64-year-old said Cynthia called her up and said:
“Ro, Michael Patrick [King] wrote you a scene, and it’s with me. Will you do it? Of course I’ll do it with you. Then, I read it, and I’m in bed with just the sheets. I’m like, “Oh my God’.”
That’s something Rosie said she didn’t have a lot of experience in, which made things way more tense for her. The only other time she’d done an NSFW scene was for Nip/Tuck with late actor Julian McMahon.
Rosie confessed:
“So I was nervous with Cynthia. And then Michael said, “You guys can be a little bit more.” And I’m thinking, “I can’t really’.”
Ha! We can only imagine! Despite how awkward she felt, though, Rosie sang nothing but praises for Cynthia:
“She’s one of the best actresses that we have. She stands up for injustice wherever she sees it. She puts her money where her mouth is. She loves her children and her wife. I admire her greatly.”
