Rowling Outselling The Rest

As we mentioned earlier this month, JK Rowling‘s latest book, The Tales of Beedle the Bard, was set to hit the market with a big splash.

And it has.

Rowling’s book has already become the fastest-selling book of the year!

It’s already sold five times as many copies in its first few days out as its nearest competitor, Guinness World Records 2008.

The book, which Rowling originally didn’t even intend for publication, is a 109 page collection of short stories.

It sold 367,625 copies in the first three days after publication on December 4th. As for Guinness, it only sold 73,000 over the same period.

The charts editor at The Bookseller magazine, said, “None of the other big releases managed to get near the sales figure for Beedle the Bard. I would be very surprised if it is not Christmas number one, but it’s not a dead cert.”

Even Stephenie Meyer‘s Twilight series only sold 32,000 in six days.

It’s safe to say Rowling is a guaranteed big seller.

Somehow we bet she’ll have another book out in time for the holidays next year.
