This is horrible news!
Torrin Lawrence, a sprinter for Team USA, tragically died on Monday morning when his car was hit by a tractor trailer.
The 25-year-old’s tire exploded while he was driving in Georgia around 1:40am, so he got out of the car to call 911. Unfortunately, a semi-truck hit Torrin’s car, which then hit the AAF World Relays gold medal winning sprinter.
Just horrible!
Max Siegel, USA Track & Field CEO, made a statement, saying:
“Torrin represented USATF with pride and passion, and had an incredible future ahead of him. We join those who will miss him deeply.”
Not only did he win a gold medal in the AAF World Relays, but Torrin was also the fastest indoor sprinter for the 300m in the NCAA.
He will definitely be missed!
