Keeping yourself cool will be this summer, with record temperatures and heat waves sweeping through the country.
So how do you make sure you and your pooch are safe when you decide to go for run?
For starters, take it slow and make sure your doggie gets plenty of water. If your dog is unfamiliar with running with you, take your time and gradually increase the distance and speed of your jogging.
Looking out for signs of distress is key. Believe or not, dogs can get sunburn so if they are lighter in color or have short hair, suntan lotion can be a life saver.
Other signs to look for include burnt paws, heavy panting, or looks of discomfort.
If you want to avoid the sun altogether, run during the night or early morning hours. And again make sure they get lots of water!
