Federal aviation spokespeople are now saying – officially – that the little Learjet’s tires were stripped to nothing as the aircraft careened down the runway to its ultimate fate, killing 4 and leaving DJ A.M. and Travis Barker badly burned.
Recordings from the cockpit indicate that the crew suspected a blown tire and attempted to abort take-off. But traveling at over 100 miles per hour, the plane swiftly ran out of runway and tore through a wall, crashing into an embankment.
The runway is now scarred where the bare rims of the aircraft sparked across it.
The National Transportation Safety Board reported today, Wednesday, that there was almost no rubber remaining on the Learjet’s tires and that its brakes were severely damaged.
That sucks.
