Well, he always speaks his mind!
But we’re not sure he should have in this case!
Russell Crowe recently let the world in on what he thinks about older women in front of the camera.

There’s been a lot of talk lately about how few roles there are for women in film compared to men. But Russell apparently thinks that’s bullshiz! He said:
“To be honest, I think you’ll find that the woman who is saying that [the good roles for women have dried up is] the woman who at 40, 45, 48, still wants to play the ing├â┬⌐nue, and can’t understand why she’s not being cast as the 21-year-old.”
Wow! Really?
Seeing as how Russell has never been an actress in her 40s, we’re guessing he doesn’t actually have experience searching for these roles.
Russell then points to women who have had success in their golden years, including Meryl Streep and Helen Mirren, using them as examples of how to do it right. He says:
“Meryl Streep will give you 10,000 examples and arguments as to why that’s bulls–t, so will Helen Mirren, or whoever it happens to be. If you are willing to live in your own skin, you can work as an actor. If you are trying to pretend that you’re still the young buck when you’re my age, it just doesn’t work.”
Hmm, is it really fair to use two of the most sought-after actresses of all time as your examples? He also said:
“I have heard of an actress, part of her fee negotiation was getting the number of children she was supposed to have lessened. Can you believe this? This [character] was a woman with four children, and there were reasons why she had to have four children ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ mainly, she lived in a cold climate and there was nothing to do but fornicate all day ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ so quit arguing, just play the role! The point is, you do have to be prepared to accept that there are stages in life. So I can’t be the Gladiator forever.”
At least he’s including himself here! So this isn’t all about women!
But then why focus on them in the first place? No one would take offense if he’d said a lot of ACTORS want to play younger roles. Which is obviously true.
Maybe next time rethink your words before sticking your foot in your mouth!
