And so he should be… dude got 17 enthusiastic Emmy nods!
The 2012 Emmy Award finalists were announced this morning and Ryan Murphy’s freshman season of semi-mini series/anthology American Horror Story tied with Mad Men for MOST mentions.
How devilishly delightful!
Ryan responded to the warm praise for AHS, stating:
“In the tradition of the entertainment industry, horror stuff is usually not that well rewarded and has a stigma over it — if you look at movies, The Exorcist and Silence of the Lambs broke that mold a little — but on television, not that much. I was thrilled that it could overcome the stigma and the voters can really see how great the production values were, how wonderful the acting was, how it was really trying to make a social statement about the world that we live in today.”
Unfortunately for all you Gleeks out there, Ryan Murphy’s other brainchild Glee got SUPER snubbed, barely getting ANY noms at all.
But ah well, you can’t cry over spilled musical milk when you’ve got a case-load of creepy Crystal in your kitchen!
Congrats Ryan, we’re obviously besotted by American Horror Story and can’t wait to partake in some sixties insanity when season two airs this fall!
