After the reviled X-Men Origins: Wolverine, hopes for Ryan Reynolds taking on fan-favorite Marvel character Deadpool in his own feature film kind of fizzled.
But this summer, right after Comic-Con, a miracle happened.
OK, it didn’t look that way at the time. When test footage leaked of Tim Miller‘s version of the Merc With A Mouth, complete with RyRey’s voice, fans went nuts for it.
But the studio was NOT happy about the leak and rumor was the whole secret project might be scrapped!
Fortunately, it looks like Fox was listening to the will of the people, because they’ve officially given Deadpool a release date on February 12, 2016!
No confirmation on whether Ryan is going to be behind the mask, but seeing as how he performed so well in the test footage, we’re thinking it’s a pretty safe bet we’ll once again hear him say this:
