No one besmirches the name of accused pedophile Roy Moore

The disgraced former Alabama judge filed a defamation lawsuit against Sacha Baron Cohen over his appearance on the actor’s new Showtime series Who Is America?, and he’s seeing $95 million in damages.

Disguising himself as Israeli military expert Erran Morad, Cohen interviewed the “respected politician” about equality in Alabama and demonstrated a fictional device meant to detect pedophiles — a jab at the sexual misconduct scandal Moore dealt with during his unsuccessful campaign for Alabama Senator.

According to the suit, the “false and fraudulent” device Cohen showed Moore attempted to paint the politician as a sex offender, “thus defaming him.”

The complaint reads:

“Defendant Cohen’s character falsely and fraudulently introduced a false and fraudulent ‘device’ supposedly invented by the Israeli Army to detect pedophiles. During the segment, Defendant Cohen’s ‘device’ – as part of the false and fraudulent routine – purports to detect Judge Moore as a sex offender, thus defaming him.”

Moore also says he never would have flown to D.C. had he known the real reason behind the interview, while his lawyers claim to have sent a threat letter in an effort to get Showtime to not the footage. The interview has already seen the light of TVs and, as of this writing, is still up on YouTube.

In addition to Cohen, Moore is suing CBS and Showtime for defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and fraud.
