Woo hoo! This is fantastic news!
The NBA just became a more progressive place because the championship-winning San Antonio Spurs have just hired the first female assistant coach in NBA history!
Becky Hammon, a current WNBA player, has worked with the team and head coach Gregg Popovich for awhile, and they’ve decided to officially bring her on the staff.
The 37-year-old announced that this would be her final year playing for the WNBA, where she has been named one of the Top 15 Players of All-Time!
And ironically, back in March of this year, Hammon and Coach Pop talked about the prospect of her coming to work for the Spurs full-time.
Now, that has become a reality!
Take a look at the video (above) to get a peek at just how awesome of a coach she already is!
Congrats to Becky and to the Spurs for being great!
