Sara Gilbert and Linda Perry are calling it quits.
On Friday, December 27, the 44-year-old The Conners actress filed paperwork in Los Angeles for a legal separation with minor children from her wife of over five years. TMZ was first to report the news.

According to documents obtained by the outlet, Sara cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split and requested that neither she nor Linda receive spousal support going forward. The official date of separation was reportedly listed as August 13.
The news comes as a surprise when you consider how Gilbert took a huge step back from her career to focus on family in recent months. Back in April, it was announced she’d be exiting as co-host of The Talk despite being with the show for nine years. At the time, the TV personality explained how difficult it was to manage a regular seat on the daytime talk show, balance life at home, and remain committed to a role on the ABC Roseanne reboot all at the same time.
She previously told People:
“Last season, I did The Conners and was also producing and (hosting) here. I loved it and felt totally empowered, but also, if I’m being honest about it, my life was slightly out of balance. I wasn’t able to spend as much time with my three kids as I’d like, or take time for myself.”
Her final episode was aired at the end of this summer in August, which makes the timing of this split all the more suspicious. We guess the two weren’t able to mend their estranged relationship after all.
A different source spoke to Radar Online of a more contentious situation behind closed doors. They dished:
“Sara’s marriage was strained because of the nonstop fights with her wife. Linda told Sara that she didn’t have enough time for her family, and she was right!”
Perry is known best as the frontwoman of a rock band called 4 Non Blondes and for producing hits for likes of Pink, Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, and more. The Grammy-award winning musician and her wife tied the knot in an elaborate rock concert-like ceremony back in March 2014.
A Family Broken Apart…
During their marriage, the entertainers welcomed a baby boy named Rhodes Emilio Gilbert-Perry. Their son joined older siblings Levi Hank Gilbert-Adler and Sawyer Gilbert-Adler, whom Sara had from a previous relationship with TV writer and producer, Allison Adler.
Sad to see yet another couple leave years of memories and family between them as they go their separate ways. We wish them the best as they work out that co-parenting situation!
