Oh no! This is awful!
Canadian freestyle skier Sarah Burke is in a coma after receiving a brain injury while training for the X-Games.
The 4-time X-Games gold medalist had landed a new trick during a superpipe run in Park City, Utah on Tuesday, but unfortunately “bounced from her feet onto her head.”
Her husband, fellow freestyle skier Rory Bushfield, is by her side as she lies in critical condition. Her future is uncertain, but Rory calls Sarah “very strong” and believes she will “most certainly fight to recover”.
We sure hope so! Sarah, who fought for years for women to be allowed to compete in freestyle, would be a huge loss to the extreme sports community!
Check out the video above and keep Sarah in your thoughts and prayers!
