Most actors would kill to be on a hit HBO show!
But for Sarah Jessica Parker, it was actually a really scary decision.
Why? The schedule of Sex And The City seemed to her like a prison sentence!

On the latest episode of the podcast Origins With James Andrew Miller, the star revealed:
“I panicked and I was like, ‘I want to maintain my life. I like doing a few plays a year and a movie, and maybe a TV movie of the week.”
(TV movies of the week used to be a big thing!)
Instead, she had to settle for boring old job security — and that problem got even worse as the show became a huge hit. SJP recalls:
“All of a sudden it felt like somebody was holding me hostage or something or there just were these limitations which felt very suffocating.”
Yeah, sad and all, but…
She knows that’s most people’s jobs their whole lives, right??
We guess it took a while for her to realize the show would be adored by millions, turning her into a bigger star than ever — which actually allowed her to do whatever she wanted after!
Even eventually another HBO show.
