Savannah Guthrie Sobs In First Today Interview Since Mom Nancy’s Disappearance: ‘I Will Not Hide My Face’

Savannah Guthrie has sat down for her first interview since her mother Nancy Guthrie disappeared.

In a deeply emotional chat with Hoda Kotb for the Today Show, the journalist broke down in tears while begging for someone with information to reach out about what happened to the 84-year-old, who was taken from her Tucson, Arizona, home in the early morning hours of February 1.

The full interview will air on Thursday and Friday, but in a preview released on Wednesday morning, Savannah told her friend:

“Someone needs to do the right thing. We are in agony. We are in agony. It is unbearable.”

Oof.

She added:

“And to think of what she went through. I wake up every night in the middle of the night, every night. And in the darkness, I imagine her terror. And it is unthinkable, but those thoughts demand to be thought. And I will not hide my face. But she needs to come home now.”

Just devastating. The pain this family has suffered these last several weeks is unimaginable. Our hearts break for them every day that goes by without answers.

Hinting at what is to come in the rest of the chat, Hoda told her teary-eyed co-anchors:

“There is a desperation and also a steeliness about Savannah. I mean, she’s hoping that somebody, whoever this person is, will see something and say something and as you’ll see in the coming days she talks about so many things. She talks about the investigation, she talks about her faith, and she talks about how she’s getting through.”

She’ll also share “how God’s holding her hand” through this in later portions of the interview.

So, so sad.

We continue to hope someone speaks up. Sending the Guthries lots of love right now.
