Are you kidding???
A school’s principal and head teacher, with approval from the child’s parent, allowed one of their students to cut thyself!
This happened after the school briefly implemented a “controlled self-harm” policy. Wow!
The student was brought to the bathroom and given a clean razor to cut with. Afterwards, the student’s wounds was dressed by the school nurse.
Here’s what a spokeswoman for the school said:
“This was a short-term, local procedure introduced by the head teacher and school principal who genuinely believed it was in the best interests of the pupil. However, they accept that the procedure should not have been implemented without further approvals having been obtained from key stakeholders and senior management prior to its introduction.”
That’s a bunch of fancy talk for basically, we messed up!
The police will not press charges, but the Department Of Education has already said they’ll review the situation to determine whether any further action is necessary.
Our opinion?
This cannot be allowed to happen!!!!
