Technically, there’s currently no official link between Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master and The Church of Scientology.
PTA has been asked repeatedly and has declined comment.
Off the record, most everyone recognizes his new film is a not-so-subtely disguised L. Ron Hubbard biopic.
Ch-Ch-Check out Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s portrayal of a cult leader/philosopher in the trailer (above), and we think you’ll see what we mean.
Regardless, we are PUMPED for more PTA!!
It seems like six decades have passed since There Will Be Blood!
And from the trailer alone we definitely wouldn’t be surprised if Joaquin Phoenix was nominated for an Oscar.
We’re totes enthused for The Master to visit theaters in late 2012.
