Scott Eastwood is opening up about an intense confrontation with a “psychopath” A-lister.
On Sunday, Clint Eastwood’s son appeared on the Armchair Expert podcast with Dax Shepard and told the tale of a bitter blowout he once had with a co-star. Any guesses who??
Shia LaBeouf.
While discussing working with the embattled actor on 2014’s Fury, directed by David Ayer, Scott dished:
“Look, Shia is clearly tormented and has maybe got some stuff going on … It was tough.”
He went on to detail “an incident that happened” which Brad Pitt, who also starred in the movie “sort of broke up.” Scott recalled:
“[Shia] is very method. From what I recall, he pulled out one of his teeth before we even started shooting … then he cut himself. And I remember thinking, ‘OK, this guy is crazy. I’m just going to keep clear from this guy because I don’t play this game. You go and do that, but there’s plenty of ways to do a performance in a movie and be professional.’”
According to a source at the time, Shia “pulled out his own tooth during the first few weeks of filming and then refused to shower for weeks on end so he could better understand how his character would have felt living in the trenches” as a WWII soldier.
Scott continued:
“One day, he was having an episode and thought I shouldn’t be spitting tobacco on the tank — which was in the script — and then I finally just said enough is enough.”
The 40-year-old recalled:
“I said, ‘F**k you. Stop pulling your s**t.’ I said, ‘I’m gonna whoop your ass.’ And then he got, you know, froggy, and then everyone broke it up.”
Scott said Shia “wanted a lot of attention.”
Reflecting on his altercation with the Transformers actor, Scott said:
“Grow the f**k up … be collaborative.”
He noted the confrontation was about “midway” through production and that “everyone had moments with Shia that were … gonna come to blows or not.” The Suicide Squad actor added:
“It’s funny, the film industry attracts psychopaths because it’s art, right? Art and business and they kind of intersect … Narcissism.”
