We heard the last straw for Katie Holmes before deciding to divorce Tom Cruise was his desire to throw little Suri aboard a Scientology ship run by something called the Sea Organization.
Former Scientologists have described it as “a boot camp” with “military-like conditions,” but now the religion is coming to Tom’s defense.
Even if he did want to send her to billion-year-long boarding school on the sea to learn all about Scientology, a lawyer reppin’ the Church is swearing that candidates need to be at least 16-years-old. On top of the minimum age requirement, the lawyer claimed minors must have “consent of both parents and/or all legal guardians” to board and “there are no exceptions to that policy.”
Unless you read the Church of Scientology’s own website, that is. Minors permitted to participate on the ship must be “of an age whereby they are permitted to work, generally from 14 to 18 years of age.”
Ex-Scientologist Paul Haggis, however, claims that Sea Org takes kids between 10 and 12-years-old.
The good news is that Suri still has a few more years of childhood left before she gets shipped out to sea by her loving father, but we’re hoping with all of our hearts that her loving mother puts a stop to it first.
