Jennifer Affleck said goodbye to MomTok?!
In the first season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, which premiered on Friday, the social media personality and her husband Zac Affleck got into a big disagreement over whether they should relocate their family to New York from Utah. Zac, who is Ben Affleck’s cousin btw, wanted go to medical school. Jennifer, on the other hand, was hesitant to uproot. In fact, she proposed the idea of him taking a year off before 10 more years of school. Why?

For starters, their marriage was not in a good place at the time. Remember those rage texts from Zac? The ones where he threatened to divorce her, claimed she had no “values and morals,” and said he no longer loved her — all for going to Chippendales? Mind you, she had no idea that Jessi Ngatikaura planned to take the girls to the male striptease show AND she left early. But still, it’s such a non-offense! Yet Zac had the audacity to talk horribly toward her!
Yeah, after that massive display of gross, controlling behavior, he had a lot of work to do if their relationship was going to survive! So, adding the stress of medical school into their lives when their marriage was already rocky? It understandably concerned Jennifer! She said in a confessional:
“We also just found out that Zac got into medical school in New York, which was one of his top dream schools to get into. Medical schools are super hard on marriages, so it makes me question if going to medical school is worth it.”
Zac refused to take a sabbatical. So Jennifer replied:
“I think if we avoid all of our issues and just keep moving forward that, being completely honest, I don’t know if our marriage would last. Do you have hope for the future?”
It’s not only their marriage at risk here. It’s their livelihood, too. Jennifer is the primary breadwinner for the family and even used the money she made from her career on social media to help put Zac through school! And she’ll continue to be the primary provider during medical school!
So, as Jennifer pointed out to her hubby, moving to New York could hurt them in the long run — preventing her from getting business opportunities, making content with the MomTok group, and more:
“I know that part of you thinks that New York, that’s where we’re supposed to be. But I just don’t know if it makes sense. It holds me back from business opportunities with MomTok.”
True! It’s hard to be part of MomTok when you’re thousands of miles away! Yes, she could fly back and forth between Utah and New York. However, that’s a lot on her AND seems pretty much impossible to do with two kids! She continued in a confessional:
“It’s hard because I am the provider, and if we are going to do medical school and these hard things in life, we do need to be on the same page, especially if we end up moving to New York, where I wouldn’t even have the MomTok group.”
But Zac? He didn’t “care” about her concerns. We’re not kidding. He literally said:
“I don’t really care.”
Umm… WTF? Zac should care considering she’s the one paying for his school! What happens if she loses a spot on the second season of the show? Or brand deals? All because she moved and is no longer part of the MomTok crew? Beyond the business side of things, your relationship was in a bad place, and your wife is worried about what will happen. And instead of listening, validating her feelings, and taking into account what she wants, Zac doesn’t care? Seriously? Granted, we should not be surprised this was his reaction. Not after those horrible messages!
Of course, Jennifer is super frustrated with him. As she expressed in a confessional:
“I think the reason why I have a really hard time communicating my feelings toward Zac is because I feel like his first reaction is to fight or share his opinions instead of supporting or validating me. Most important to me in this life is my relationship with God and my family, but obviously if things won’t get better, he knows that I won’t stay with him if I keep being treated this way.”
Oof…
So what happened? Did they move to New York? Is she out of MomTok? Well, in the finale, Jessi revealed to Demi Engemann that Jennifer IS “leaving” the group because of her husband! WHAT! She said:
“Jen called me and she goes like, ‘I just wanted to tell you my version of things and what’s going on.’ Jen told me that she’s leaving MomTok because of Zac. He doesn’t want her associated with us. I am really sad that this is just a continuous pattern that’s not getting better.”
Jessi noted she believes Zac gave Jennifer an ultimatum. Ugh! The scene then cuts to the couple visiting New York, with him telling his wife:
“I honestly think you’re going to love New York. I’m honestly excited. I just hope that you can feel good about it as well.”
Jennifer wondered if she was “missing anything at home with MomTok,” to which Zac responded:
“They’re not that significant. They’re just… I don’t think you’re going to be missing out. I honestly don’t.”
Not that significant except for all the money they’re putting in your account…
Jeez. Ultimately, Jennifer appeared to cave to Zac’s wishes and stated:
“I don’t feel like you’ve been your happiest, best version. I feel like this would help you.”
The show ended with Jennifer being done with MomTok. Sadly, it appears she and Zac did move. A video posted to TikTok last month showed her saying goodbye to their house. While Jennifer didn’t share where they moved to, we can assume now they packed up and went to New York. Her co-star Taylor Frankie Paul even commented she was going to “miss” her, so it does look like they made the move to the East Coast.

That said, Jennifer is not fully done with MomTok yet! She posted a bunch of videos with her friends and co-stars over the past week. Plus, we bet they will get a second season due to how popular the show has been — so this may not be the last we see of Jennifer Affleck! Fingers crossed, it’s not!
