We’ve seen the former Disney princess rip a bong AND get shwasty-faced in Spring Breakers, but Selena Gomez‘s next movie role is going to challenge the singer/actress unlike anything she’s done before!
Even though Selenita has been busy promoting her upcoming album, girl also managed to find time to participate in Rudderless, a film that explores the perspective of the parents of a Sandy Hook-type mass murderer.
Selena’s Rudderless costar Jamie Chung recently explained:
“It’s the parents’ perspective of being the parents of a murderer, a mass murder like Sandy Hook. You never get to hear the parents’ perspective of dealing with the hurt and the betrayal and the anger and the love. It’s a really interesting angle on a story like that. It’s pretty dark but it’s kind of beautiful in a way.
The thing is, [Selena’s] so talented, you’re really going to see a different side. It’s going to be a bit more fragile. I think it’s a side you’ve never seen of her. It’s quite fantastic. It’s dark, but she’s always so lovely.”
Yup, this is definitely a more serious subject matter than naughty teen wizards or bored college kids looking for a thrill!
Having said that, we were pleasantly surprised by Selena in Spring Breakers, so we are VERY curious to see whether or not her acting skillz will hold up in such an intense movie!
