Well, Hailey Bieber may not be able to stop thinking about Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber‘s past relationship, but as for Selly herself? She’s officially over it!
According to a source spilling all in the new issue of Us Weekly, the Come And Get It singer is “extremely relieved” to finally close that “chapter of her life” once and for all.
Sounds like the long national nightmare is finally over — sorry, Jelena shippers!

Crafting the Rare album about how she had been treated — well, mistreated really — gave her the strength to talk about the emotional abuse she suffered at the hands of her famous ex. As she said in an NPR interview about her controversial post-breakup track Lose You To Love Me:
“I felt I didn’t get a respectful closure, and I had accepted that, but I know I needed some way to just say a few things that I wish I had said. It’s not a hateful song; it’s a song that is saying — I had something beautiful and I would never deny that it wasn’t that. It was very difficult and I’m happy it’s over. And I felt like this was a great way to just say, you know, it’s done, and I understand that, and I respect that, and now here I am stepping into a whole other chapter.
The insider says ultimately opening up about it was what finally gave Selena the closure she needed to move on:
“She loved being able to tell her truth through her own art and her own way. It took a lot of discipline, obedience and strength to get her mental and emotional health back in a good place.”
Justin and Selena had been dating off and on, breaking up and making up, since all the way back in 2010. Even after he reportedly cheated on her and treated her like garbage.
The Heart Wants What It Wants indeed.
That means while the Disney alum has briefly dated others, famously The Weeknd for instance, her life has been kind of tied to Justin’s for a whole decade! And gurl is only 27.
But according to the insider, Selly does not view her relationship with the pop star as a waste of time but rather “a very important life lesson.” The source explains she’s still not actively looking for new guy — but at least thanks to this bad experience she knows what she’s looking for now:
“Right now, she is focusing on that as well as her music and isn’t actively looking or going out of her way to be in a relationship right now. She is still healing, but now knows what kind of guy she would want to date and what qualities he would need to have in order for her and her future boyfriend to be in a healthy, thriving, loving and supportive relationship.”
We’re going to guess:
- no cheating
- no lying
- no DUIs
- no feuding with her friends
- no tiny mustaches
Actually, that’s a checklist we should ALL probably use! LOLz!
