Soclose to that Oscar gold! Literally! Soclose!
We’ve just learned that Selena Gomez is a part of Girl Rising with Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway.
The film is part of 10×10 — a brand new grassroots organization that works as a global action campaign piece for girls’ education. Ooooh!!!
Selena and her Oscar-recognized co-stars have lent their voices to the Richard Robbins-directed film, which tells the stories of girls from all around the globe in pursuit of their dreams.
INSPIRING… AS USUAL…
The campaign’s first event will be hosted by Christian Amanpour and will occur on October 10, the night before the UN’s first International Day of the Girl. Pretty exciting!!
In a statement released this week, they describe the event a lil’ like this:
“On this unforgettable evening, artists, writers, activists, and girls from around the world will come together, through stories and performance, to inspire awareness about the importance of educating girls. Special guest speakers include: Marie Arana, novelist and journalist; Shabana Basij-Rasikh, Managing Director of SOLA (School of Leadership, Afghanistan), who dressed as a boy to get an education in Afghanistan; Azure Antoinette, poet and spoken word artist; Lindsay Brown, Seventeen Magazine’s “Pretty Amazing” winner, Notre Dame student, and founder of the non-profit SEGWAY.”
Sounds fancy!!
Can’t wait to see what comes of this. We always love seeing celebs use their platforms for something special!!
