Selena Gomez Reveals Why She 'Needed' To Share Her Truth On Bieber-Inspired Track 'Lose You To Love Me'

Selena Gomez opens up about her new songs.

After over a year of staying out of the spotlight, Selena Gomez is back and more vulnerable than ever!

As we’ve been reporting, Selly surprised us all with two new records in less than two days; the songstress’ latest up-tempo track, Look At Me Now, tells the story of a girl who’s found her inner strength and is ready to find love on her own terms. The song and its accompanying music video debuted just hours after her comeback single, Lose You to Love Me — which sent Selenators into a frenzy because of its rumored Justin Bieber-inspired lyrics.

In an upcoming unaired interview with Radio Disney, the starlet sat down and addressed speculations about the latter buzzworthy ballad head-on!

The 27-year-old kept it real in conversation with show host Candice Valdez, admitting she actually wrote the emotional song long before we ever heard it:

“I wrote this song over a year ago. It’s obviously a very emotional song for me.”

Gomez continued, sharing why she felt the time was right to sing so candidly about her personal life (below):

“It’s interesting to see how far I’ve come from that point to now. Me sharing my story is exactly what I’ve always done. I can’t be unauthentic. I can’t pretend that I’m not going through something when it’s obvious that I had been.”

To her point, Selena has been through a lot over the past year.

Between finally walking away from her on-and-off tumultuous relationship with the Biebs for good in May 2018 to reported struggles with her physical and mental health, Sel’s had to overcome quite a bit to get to where she is now.

It’s why the artist said she hopes others will resonate with her journey now. She added:

“It’s one of those songs where I just feel like it’s out, it’s released and I hope that girls and guys all over the world can feel supported. That’s a feeling everyone’s felt. That was something that I needed to do for myself regardless of what was [going to] come after.”

As we previously reported, there appeared to be a bit of drama after Gomez’s Lose You to Love Me release on Tuesday night.

Hailey Bieber was believed to have responded to the tune seemingly inspired by her husband when the model shared she was listening to Summer Walker‘s I’ll Kill You. Many interpreted the shady move as a warning to Justin’s ex.

However, the 22-year-old supermodel slammed speculation by later commenting on an Instagram post about the rumors. She wrote:

“Please stop with this nonsense… there is no ‘response.’ This is complete BS.”

Additionally, during an Instagram Live to thank fans for their support, Gomez pretty much addressed JB’s wife’s IG Story post, and very bluntly said:

“I am so grateful for the response of the song. However, I will never stand for women tearing other women down. So please be kind to everyone.”

The performer also added:

“Please be kind, I don’t like seeing people being disrespectful or rude to other people, so please don’t do that.”

Bieber, for his part, has yet to publicly comment on any of this! But we’re honestly dying to know what he’s thinking. And we need to hear the rest of that juicy radio interview when it comes out in full, too!

In the meantime, let’s hear from YOU, Perezcious readers! Got anything to say?

Let us know in the comments (below).
