Catherine Oxenberg Gets Candid With Megyn Kelly About Saving Her Daughter From Alleged Sex Cult NXIVM

Like Smallville actress/alleged sex-cult henchman Allison Mack, India Oxenberg (above, insert) could’ve ended up facing life imprisonment for her involvement with NXIVM.
But her mother, Catherine Oxenberg, wasn’t about to let that happen.
The Dynasty star appeared on NBC NewsMegyn Kelly TODAY Tuesday, opening up up about trying to save her daughter from the so-called “sex-slave cult” disguised as a self-help program.

In the interview, the actress told Kelly she found out India was in trouble after she was tipped off by a group member, and tried everything she could to pull her daughter away from the organization.
When interventions and quietly going to the authorities didn’t work, Oxenberg said she had no choice but to go public with her plight — which is what she says ultimately saved the 26-year-old.
She explained:

“If you look at Allison Mack right now, [she is] facing life imprisonment. If I hadn’t done what I had done, maybe my daughter India would be sitting where Allison is today. And I couldn’t take that risk.”

As we reported, Mack, a high-ranking member in the group, was arrested in Mexico alongside NXIVM founder Keith Raniere on charges of sex trafficking and forced labor.

Oxenberg couldn’t be more relieved over the arrests of these group leaders, because she said going public with her daughter’s situation put a big target on her back, explaining:

“I’m so incredibly grateful because if they hadn’t been arrested I would have had to run for my life … I received threats myself.”

The 56-year-old added that her daughter wants to stay out of the spotlight, but gave her permission to say “she’s moving on with her life.”
Oxenberg, however, isn’t staying silent. In fact, she wrote a book on the whole ordeal titled, Captive: A Mother’s Crusade to Save Her Daughter from a Terrifying Cult.
Subtle.
