Shakira Fans Exposed To Measles Outbreak At New Jersey Concert

Shakira Fans Have Possibly Been Exposed To A Measles Outbreak After New Jersey Concert

This is just scary!

After Shakira‘s recent concert at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, the New Jersey Department of Health announced a “newly identified case of measles” — a fan, apparently! The statement says this person attended the show “while infectious,” so now anyone who was at the show is “urged to be aware of the symptoms of this highly contagious virus”.

Yes, measles is something we have to worry about in 2025, thanks to the anti-vaxxers. Yay.

According to the NJDOH, symptoms include “a high fever, cough, runny nose, watery red eyes, and a rash that usually appears between three and five days after symptoms begin”. The “highly contagious” virus can also lead to other complications, like pneumonia and encephalitis. It can also be an extreme danger to pregnancies.

So far, luckily “no additional associated cases in New Jersey have been identified” but they say it’s imperative to “call a health care provider BEFORE going to any medical office or emergency department” to avoid further outbreak. They also urge everyone to be up to date on their measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccines.

Such an awful situation! See the full statement (below):

We hope everyone affected makes a full recovery.
