Shakira is in Brazil this week and yesterday, she met with Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff to discuss early childhood development in Latin America and her charity, the Alas Foundation.
According to reps for the president, the meeting was “very positive” and the president was “very enthusiastic” about the work Shakira is proposing to help children of the country.
Of her meeting with President Rouseff, Shakira said:
“It’s a blessing, for the first time (for Brazil) to have a female president, since there’s nobody like a woman to understand the problems of childhood.”
Lovely! Two powerful women taking on powerful issues!
