Shawn Mendes is getting cryptic about Camila Cabello — and all the “noise” surrounding them.
Earlier this week, the 26-year-old appeared on the Jay Shetty Podcast, where he was VERY open about his breakup from his Señorita collaborator. He told the podcast host at the time:
“Honestly, I think Camila and I have just done the best job at preserving our private little fire of love for each other. Because no matter how strong mentally you are, when there are millions of people commenting on it, it’s so hard not to be affected by it and to be swayed by it and to be inspired by it … It’s honestly too detrimental to the actual relationship itself that I’ve become pretty strict on that part of it. We’re not in a movie. This is not a movie … This is real life. This is real love and love is confusing and hard and goes through dips, goes through pauses, goes through breaks.”
Clearly, there’s still a lot of emotion between them. Whether it’s romantic, or just a deep, deep respect, there’s clearly a lot of love there.

After the interview dropped, one fan took to X (Twitter) to share their take on the singer’s comments about Camila. That fan wrote:
“[Shawn and Camila] don’t play about each other”
And then Shawn responded!!
On Wednesday, the Stitches singer quoted the post and simply wrote, “no we don’t.” But before the rumor mill could spin out of control, another fan asked him to “clarify” what he meant by that. So he did! Shawn quickly added:
“i guess to be honest it came from a place of being a little annoyed with all the projection over the last few months about us. I’m usually pretty good at just watching all the ‘noise’ go by but lately it’s been kinda bugging me … feeling human i guess.”

Wow, he’s really trying to get a message across here about all the rumors surrounding him… but also, like, in the most vague way possible.
Over the last few years, a popular rumor has been that Shawn and Sabrina Carpenter had a brief romance in 2021. He’s denied they were anything more than friends, but that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating. And he seemingly addressed that, too, in a very cryptic post:

Well, the noise is kinda sounding louder than ever right now! And let’s be real — part of that phenomenon is because he so vaguely addressed this stuff! Ultimately, tho, the Mercy singer ended things by saying that he wants to focus on “the bigger picture.” For him, that means his new music.
