Shia LaBeouf has been in a legal battle against a family member for a while now.
The 27-year-old, not-famous actor, loaned his maternal uncle Barry Saide $800,000 back in 2009. The original bargain was that Saide would pay Shia back in 15 installments of $53,333 but his uncle immediately defaulted.
A judge had urged the two men to settle out of court but an agreement just couldn’t be reached.
Shia’s suit claimed:
“Defendant has failed to pay a single installment of either principal or interest to me or to any entity controlled by me.”
Wow, so Shia hadn’t gotten a single penny from his uncle!! Now a judge has ordered the uncle to pay Shia the $800,000 he owed him plus an additional $200,000!!
His uncle claims that he supported Shia before he was famous but since Shia “isn’t famous anymore” the judge threw that out and that he needed the loan after his business fell on hard times financially. That still doesn’t excuse him from paying his debts.
Saide will not only have to pay Shia back his money and then some, but also his legal fees.
We’re glad things worked out in Shia’s favor… that boy doesn’t need any more legal hardship in his life!
