Entrepreneur Nick Allen started the company Sidecar, but quickly found that parents wanted rides for their children. Like, only their children.
So, Shuddle was born!
It’s an app that charges $9/month to shuttle kids from one point to another, without the parents being there.
The parent downloads an app, then pre-schedules the ride — it can’t be done on-demand like adult car services. And each driver has a thorough background check run. Additionally, parents receive the name of the driver, a picture, and the type of car their child will be in.
If you’re still not convinced that it’s safe, the driver has a password that only you and your child will know, so you can confirm everything is a-okay. AND they have people monitoring every ride to make sure that nothing out of the ordinary happens.
Still sounds kind of sketchy to us though… a feeling we just can’t shake off.
Allen identified a need that many busy parents have, especially when extracurricular activities are involved. At $9/month it’s more affordable than a taxi too!
Right now, this service is only in San Francisco, but we’re curious if you’d use Shuddle if it came to your hometown?!
