By now, it’s common knowledge that James Cameron is basically moving to Pandora. The director has said he’s done making movies that AREN’T Avatar sequels or documentaries.
He has previously told sources, “I├óΓé¼Γäóm making Avatar 2, Avatar 3 maybe Avatar 4.” Now someone else has confirmed that he is indeed making up to three more Avatar movies.
While chatting up reporters at the premiere of her USA series Political Animals, Sigourney Weaver said she’s preparing to film the three sequels all in a row.
That’s about all of the details anyone’s got so far though. The actress, who died in Cameron’s sci-fi blockbuster, said she has no idea how long production will take or how it’s going to work.
Putting production processes aside, we’re sure a lot of people are confused as to how Sigourney’s deceased character will be utilized in three more movies.
According to the director himself, it’s pretty easy. Here is what he said about her character’s involvement back in October:
“Have you ever heard of nonlinear storytelling? A lot happens on that planet before she shows up, and before Jake shows up to join her. She’s there for fifteen years ahead of time. I don’t know, but I wouldn├óΓé¼Γäót jump to conclusions … When you have a science-fiction series, a science-fiction franchise, you’re never dead, unless your DNA is expunged from the universe. And then there’s always time travel!”
While we sincerely hope he doesn’t resort to time travel, we’re VERY curious to see what Cameron’s got planned for that big, blue planet he created.
