Simon Cowell‘s production company is speaking out just days after Gabrielle Union aired out America’s Got Talent over her contentious one-season run on the reality TV competition show.
As you’ll recall, Dwyane Wade‘s wife was reported to have revealed tales of inappropriate jokes and other misconduct — including racially insensitive situations — which allegedly led to her firing from the American talent competition show after just one season. Now, Cowell’s company is trying to save some face throughout the whole process.

In a response to the Union reveal this week about AGT, Syco Entertainment, which produces the show, released a brand new joint statement alongside NBC and fellow production company Fremantle Media on Sunday morning, first supplied to People. The statement reads as follows:
“We remain committed to ensuring a respectful workplace for all employees and take very seriously any questions about workplace culture. We are working with Ms. Union through her representatives to hear more about her concerns, following which we will take whatever next steps may be appropriate.”
Obviously, this is all in response to blowback after the announcement came down that the 47-year-old Union and fellow judge Julianne Hough would not be returning for the show’s upcoming 15th season. Variety had previously reported that both Union and Hough were given “excessive” notes about their physical appearance throughout the season they were on air, too, in addition to the initial claims brought forth by the actress.
In the last few days, the former Bring It On star herself has low-key addressed the rumors with her own call-out message as part of her Thanksgiving family photo.
And as you might recall, a spokesperson for NBC attempted to calm the crowd after the firestorm first broke, offering up the company’s initial tepid corporate-speak statement about the allegations early this past week (below):
“America’s Got Talent has a long history of inclusivity and diversity in both our talent and the acts championed by the show. The judging and host line-up has been regularly refreshed over the years and that is one of the reasons for AGT’s enduring popularity. NBC and the producers take any issues on set seriously.”
Hmmm… Talk about a couple of wishy-washy, non-committal, ineffective statements from the corporate overlords on this one, ya know?!
