Things haven’t been going smoothly for Sister Wives star Meri Brown.
Earlier this year, the first wife of Kody Brown agreed to legally divorce her reality TV polygamist husband so he could marry his fourth wife, Robyn.
Though the couple still claims they are “spiritually married,” Meri admitted to having an emotional affair with someone online. But it turns out the courting individual she thought was a man turned out to be a woman!

That’s right, the 44-year-old claims she was “catfished” — a term used when people lie about their identity online when romantically pursuing an unsuspecting partner.
Meri revealed:
“During an emotional and vulnerable time earlier this year, I began speaking with someone online who turned out to be not who they said they were. I never met this person and I regret being drawn into this situation, but I hope because of it I can help others who find themselves in similar circumstances.”
It looks like the TLC star should’ve called up Nev Schumlan, who popularized the term with his 2010 Catfish documentary and subsequent MTV spinoff show!
Despite the legal divorce and Meri’s emotional infidelity, the Browns are actually staying together! Meri added:
“Throughout this ordeal, my family has supported and stood by me. I am grateful to them for their love and strength through this difficult time.”
No matter your opinion on the subject of polygamy, you gotta hand it to them — they are braving through this storm together!
