You would think appearing in an award winning movie such as Slumdog Millionare, when you’re a kid no less, would be a pretty big deal for anyone.
But nothing could explain just how big of a deal it was for the movie’s stars Azharuddin Ismail and Rubina Ali – the two poorest children from India on set.
Five years later after their big Oscars win in 2009 (above), those two joined the other child actors to see how each has grown since that life changing moment.
And the answer to how much they’ve grown is: they’ve ALL grown quite a lot!
Everyone was there except for Ayush Khedekar who was unable to attend that meeting although he was photographed separately.
Azharuddin Ismail and Rubina Ali might have had the most remarkable story though. After the completion of the movie, they went back home to some serious family drama. It wasn’t until director Danny Boyle stepped in and gave them both a trust to finish school that their lives settled down. As Ismail said:
“I used to live in a slum. Now I live in a nice apartment and go to a good school.”
It’s pretty inspiring to see how much these talented youngsters have grown, emotionally and physically.
