Aw, boo!
We were SO ready to see Newsie boy Jeremy Jordan get all seductive with Bombshell Karen (Katharine McPhee)!
Unfortunatly for all you Smashsters out there, your favorite Broadway-based television show will NOT be returning this fall, mostly because new showrunner Josh Safran (Gossip Girl) needs a little time to warm up his vocals adjust in his new, theatrical setting.
President of NBC Entertainment Jennifer Salke recently revealed:
“New showrunner Josh Safran is coming in — he’s awesome, and we wanted him to get a chance to own [it] and get in there and have an ownership stake in the show — not just put a gun to his head and [tell him], ‘You gotta get going!’ So we wanted him to be able to stand back and have a real creative discussion about what he wants the season to be and be a big part of that.”
BUT don’t frantically jazz-hand in frustration QUITE yet, ’cause a 2013 midseason return means less break periods between airtime!
No more month-long waits after a ridiculous cliff-hanger where some guy gets punched in the face. That does seem to happen A LOT on Smash…
Ohhhhh so THAT’s why it’s called SMASH! Ha! So clever.
