Despite Strict Anti-Gay Laws, Number Of Grindr Users TRIPLES In Sochi During Olympics!

Well it looks like Tinder isn’t the only app helping people get lucky in Sochi!!
According to new numbers, the number of men using the app Grindr has nearly tripled since the winter games kicked off last week!
Of course, it’s easy to point out the heavy flow in tourists brought in for the olympics over the past several days, however, it’s a bit shocking that an app that helps gay and bi-sexual men hook up would skate by Russia’s current anti-gay propaganda laws!
In fact, a similar dating app called Hunters was recently hacked and shut down in Russia, with users receiving a warning message that read:

“WARNING: You will be arrested and jailed for gay propaganda in Sochi according to Russian Federal Law #135 Sektion 6.”

The current number of Grindr users in Sochi is about 541, which might not be much but it’s still a substantial jump from the 185 users from last week!
As far as we can tell the app is still alive and well, and it definitely looks like Sochi is the place to be if you’re alone on Valentine’s Day!
