Well, you don’t hear this one every day.
As you know, Sofia Vergara is in the midst of a bitter legal war with ex-fiancé Nick Loeb over the rights to two frozen embryos that were created when the pair were an item back in 2013.
The custody battle took a bizarre turn on Tuesday when a new lawsuit was filed in a Louisiana court against the Modern Family star on behalf of the fertilized eggs — referred to in the legal docs as “Emma” and “Isabella.”
According to Page Six, the suit argues the female embryos have the right to live so they can receive a trust that has been set up for them in Louisiana by the plaintiff and “trustee” James Carbonnet.

The trust reportedly promises to pay for things like the embryos’ future health care and education. Hm.
The suit — which argues the exes’ former agreement never specified what would happen in the event of a breakup — asks for the embryos to be put in Loeb’s full custody so that they can be implanted in a surrogate, and eventually see the money from the reported trust.
Obviously, this unique case has the potential to set a huge precedent for embryo rights.
We’ll certainly keep you updated as this complicated battle continues.
Do U think Nick is just in it for his 15 minutes?? SOUND OFF in the comments!
