Take note, Beyoncé!
Solange isn’t the only celebrity speaking out about the Black Lives Matter movement following the recent high profile police killings of black men… but she is one of the few actually doing something to help.
That’s because the 30-year-old R&B singer and her husband Alan Ferguson were spotted taking part in peaceful protests in Baton Rouge over the weekend in honor of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile.

But that’s not all — while Solange’s in-person appearance showed how important equal rights truly are to her, she made sure to drive that point home on social media with a message against police brutality on Twitter!
In a series of tweets on Sunday, Solange recounted how the only violence she experienced while walking in the Louisiana march on Saturday came from authorities, saying:
Protesters/marchers have been nothing but peaceful today in Baton Rouge. Police are here pulling out tear gas while children are around.

Most of the march/protest speakers in Baton Rouge were all under 17 years old…
We all left feeling uplifted….

Yet as I walked back to my car I personally saw @BRPD pulling huge assault rifles out on peaceful protesters…

Because everyone knows the best way to subdue a high schooler who isn’t even doing anything wrong is with tear gas…
We’re just glad Jesse Williams finally has some actual boots-on-the-ground support from another celeb!
Rest in peace, Alton and Philando.
